Parent of two seeks court's permission to change registered sex

GIFU, Japan - A person (L) diagnosed with sexual identity disorder, who has fathered two children (R side), speaks at a news conference in Gifu on Dec. 24 as he filed a request with the Gifu Family Court the same day to change his registered sex to female. The 43-year-old resident of Hashima, Gifu, changed his registered name to Atsuko (a woman's name) Mizuno, after undergoing a sex-change operation abroad.
